If you go down to the ocean floor

There is a celebrity you may not have seen before

Not on the stage or the silver screen

But the intertidal zone where the waves caress the shore

It's my favourite echinoderm

            Em                         F                                 C

She looks just like she fell from the night sky

            Dm          Em                             Fm  

And I learn to look for her when I'm at the seaside

Would you teach me how to be a sea star?

Teach me how to be a sea star

She takes good care of her habitat

Cleaning up the rocks and sand, Salty water in her veins

                              C  

And with that tough spiny skin of hers

            Am                                                Dm                                   G           

For fending off the predators, she lives to shine another day

There is a familiar face

 

Where everything looks strange to us – deep and dark and dangerous

 

A friendly sea star finds it's place…
